Hamilton PR agency becomes a social enterprise and donates 100% of profits to charity

Hamilton public relations agency, HMC, announced today that it has become a social enterprise and is now donating 100% of its profits to charity.

HMC director Heather Claycomb says HMC’s charity of choice is All Good Ventures, a New Zealand registered charity.

“My husband, Rod, and I started All Good Ventures last year. Through that charity we fund and mentor emerging social entrepreneurs who want to start a business and use that business’s profits to help people living in deprivation both in New Zealand and overseas,” says Heather.

“All Good Ventures first two supported projects this year are Morningside Urban Market Garden in Auckland and One Day Health in Uganda. Through the market garden business, refugee women learn new skills and amalgamate into the community. One Day Health builds health centres in rural Uganda, freeing people from a lack of accessible healthcare.”

All Good Ventures provides social entrepreneurs with the resources they need to get their business ideas off the ground. It helps entrepreneurs whose business idea funnel business profits into a cause or community that frees people from some sort of deprivation.

“We hope HMC clients will be excited about this change in HMC’s business structure and purpose. It means not only do they receive great communications support, clients also get to partner with us, in a sense, to do some good in the world,” says Heather.

Hamilton-based HMC celebrates its 15th anniversary this year. In 2018, the agency was named PR Institute of New Zealand’s PR Consultancy of the Year (small category). Over the years, the agency has won numerous awards for its campaigns, including the international Global Alliance COMM PRIX Award in 2016.

Today HMC is home to a team of seven team members, including both full-time staff and contractors. The HMC team services more than 40 clients across New Zealand in sectors ranging from agriculture, energy and skin care, to real estate, medicinal cannabis and education.
