Reputation Reality 2019 – Trans-Tasman perspectives on reputation and risk

9 April, 2019

In a world where trust is under the spotlight, reputation is everything.

SenateSHJ have researched this foundational issue for a decade now – through their Reputation Model and their flagship Reputation Reality Report – and this history of research has shown just how important reputations are to doing business, as well as attracting and retaining the best talent.

This year's Reputation Reality report provides deep insights into how corporate leaders across Australia and New Zealand perceive reputation, the challenges they face in promoting or protecting it, and the biggest reputational crises of the past year.

Brands and people are trusted or not because of their reputation. That means reputation comes before trust and drives the decisions your stakeholders and your employers make about how they want to engage with you, if they choose to engage at all.

As Richard Branson says, “All you have in business is your reputation - so it's very important that you keep your word.”

Where the report insights came from

The insights in our 2019 Reputation Reality Report come from the experiences of 254 CEOs, senior executives, board members, managing directors, public and corporate affairs managers and marketing and communications managers.

Participants brought insights from across all levels of Government, Healthcare / Pharmaceutical, Banking / Financial / Insurance Services, Professional Services, Not-for-profit, IT / Technology/Communications, Education and Training, Utilities, Retail / Wholesale and a range of other sectors.

All scales of operation are represented, with participating organisations ranging from 0-20 employees through to 3,000+ employees, including household name brands and top 200 ASX and NZX listed companies.

SenateSHJ would like to thank each one for taking the time to share their insights.
