At the 2017 Annual General Meeting of the Public Relations Institute of New Zealand (PRINZ), Auckland public relations practitioner and PRINZ Fellow, Sharon Buckland was voted President Elect for the Institute. Her term as President will commence after the next AGM in May 2018, replacing current President Katie Mathison.

Sharon Buckland, MBA FPRINZ, is an award-winning Auckland-based corporate affairs leader with more than 20 years' industry experience and a strong history of support for PRINZ. A former Auckland Branch president and national executive member, Sharon has also served on the Fellows committee, been a guest lecturer at AUT, MIT and The University of Auckland, and been a member of the MIT communications degree industry advisory panel. She has spoken at several national conferences and local branch activities, led APR viva voce and PRINZ Awards category judging panels for several years.

Her aspirations for PRINZ are to invigorate member services, bring international communications thought-leadership into the local environment, ensure PRINZ Fellows are at the forefront of public commentary on global communication issues, and provide more services that retain senior members in PRINZ to the benefit of younger members.
