Air NZ wins award for comms

Air New Zealand’s communications team has been named Communications Team of the Year at the Asia-Pacific Excellence Awards announced overnight in Hong Kong.

The Excellence Awards, hosted by Communication Director magazine, celebrate the achievements of communications professionals around the world.

The airline was a finalist in three categories, Campaign of the Year for its Better Way to Fly campaign encouraging Australians to travel Air New Zealand to North and South America, Travel & Tourism for the same campaign and Communications Team of the Year.

The team was up against leading technology company NEC Australia and Canara HSBC Oriental Bank of Commerce Life Insurance, a joint venture between HSBC and two of India’s largest public sector banks, for the top honour.

Air New Zealand’s Head of Communications Marie Hosking says the big win is testament to the hard work of a talented team that works across internal and external communications and event management.

“This year’s awards attracted a high calibre of entrants from globally recognised communications agencies and high profile companies including Samsung, Ford Motors and Warner Bros Pictures.

“To win the evening’s big award against such competition is a great acknowledgment of the team’s hard work and the airline’s commitment to professional communications. We’re proud to work for an organisation that values the contribution effective and engaging communications makes to commercial performance, employee engagement and customer sentiment.”

Last month the airline took the number one position in the Colmar Brunton Corporate Reputation Index for the third year in a row.
