We're past the point of no return. 2015 was the year it was predicted video would outstrip all other types of content on the web and they were right - here we are in 2018 producing daily videos on the fly. Video and live streaming are mainstream and stories are seldom told without moving images. This session lays bare the video and visual storytelling landscape that practitioners must understand and operate within. We're working in a new era of oral communication and we are all on camera somewhere.
Smartphones and mobile applications have made digital storytelling, reporting and instant upload the way of 'now'. And if it's not video, it's a live chat, live stream or a hangout.
This session looks at the increasing ways we use oral communication in today's rich media environment. It covers video, visual and digital storytelling. It takes you through the basics, helps you to develop a great digital story, walks you through the equipment and production requirements so you can navigate the ups and downs of all things digital. This is a hands-on, practical session - so be prepared to be on camera, off camera, writer, actor and editor.

  • Working with video - content, technical requirements, equipment, operation, production and editing
