How to run a PR firm (a.k.a. The ruthless application of common sense)
Taking a global, national and local look at public relations consulting

David Brain has led some of the world’s largest PR firms and has some simple principles that he believes help deliver success in the consulting environment. He will be sharing these and some other lessons from his many years in consultancies alongside two other senior communications professionals. Nikki Wright is the founder of Wright Communications and was recognised with the PR Consultancy of the Year – Small to Medium category in this year’s PRINZ Awards. Julien Leys also founded his own successful consultancy, PR Partners, and later joined forces with SenateSHJ where he is GM and Partner. Both will talk about their experiences and learnings from their own consulting careers. Collectively, the panel will offer a global, trans-Tasman and local view on how to run a PR firm and some of the opportunities and obstacles. This event is generously hosted and supported by PRINZ member ANZ.

Speakers

David Brain - Former CEO & President, Asia Pacific, Middle East & Africa, Edelman

David has just finished 13 years with Edelman, the world’s largest PR firm where he ran Europe from London and then Asia Pacific, Middle East & Africa from Auckland…which nearly killed him. Before this he was Co-CEO of Weber Shandwick in the UK and had stints at Burson Masteller and Visa International as well as in advertising and at an ill-fated start-up. He trained as a journalist, supports Manchester City, is married with two kids and dog and is currently ‘resting’! Full bio here:https://www.linkedin.com/in/davidbrain1/

Nikki Wright - APR, FPRINZ, Managing Director, Wright Communications

An AUT PR grad, Nikki Wright runs a successful independent PR consultancy, where clients are treated as partners and work closely with experienced consultants. A self-professed "adrenalin junky", Nikki gets a buzz from working in the fast-paced world of public relations. She relishes the daily challenge of people management, business development and quality control. For the last decade the team at Wright Communications have trained and honed their expertise in CSR and sustainability storytelling and proudly supply services to a range of companies that regularly perform well in reputation rankings. Nikki is extremely proud to lead a talented team with expertise across the corporate, government, not-for-profit and consumer sectors.
