Key note speaker successful businessman Indonesian Chairul Tanjunga, Chairman C T Corp, told the ASEAN PR conference that that there were three keys to success. They were opportunity, trust and networks and these keys were fundamental to business and good communication.

He noted that one of the biggest challenges is living in an digital era where everyone can be a PR and the impact that has on our profession.

Over 250 delegates from more than 15 countries attended the Bali conference that was focused on PR related topics within the ASEAN environment. Topics covered included maintaining an ASEAN identity in a global world, ASEAN and the PR industry, branding, politics, innovations and perceptions to name a few.

With my colleagues from the Global Alliance we ran a half day workshop on how Associations can build and sustain themselves. We discussed ethics, professional development and membership engagement and found that regardless of country the issues we faced were similar.

Major learnings from the conference were that:

·Cultures and peoples plays a significant role in society and therefore must be factored in to all PR activities

·Education and professional development are fundamental to the continued growth of the profession

·ASEAN PR has made significant strides in the past ten years and have many world leading campaigns which we could learn from

·Global activities are shared but local solutions provide the best outcomes.
