SenateSHJ announces 2015 intern
30 November 2015
AUT student, part-time skateboarder and qualified barista Tessa Donovan has been named the SenateSHJ Prize Intern for 2015.
The SenateSHJ Prize, now in its twelfth year, awards the best projects by communications and public relations students at Unitec, Victoria University, AUT and Massey University.
The four top students each win $500, membership to the Public Relations Institute of New Zealand, and the opportunity to compete for a paid internship at SenateSHJ.
Tessa won the SenateSHJ Prize for AUT students for her assignment examining how Jetstar could increase its share of the New Zealand business traveller market. She was then selected out of the four national winners for a one-week paid internship.
Tracey Bridges, Managing Partner SenateSHJ New Zealand, said Tessa was awarded the internship because she had a mature understanding of corporate reputation, and the role it plays in helping organisations achieve their business goals.
“The SenateSHJ Prize was designed to recognise and reward graduates who demonstrate smart thinking and an understanding of the value of strategic communications.
“The internship gives promising students like Tessa the opportunity to gain practical experience in a consultancy, working across diverse projects and with people who are experts in their field.”
Tessa will be joining SenateSHJ’s Auckland office for a week early in 2016.
The other SenateSHJ Prize winners were:
• Olivia Nelson, Victoria University of Wellington, for her brand analysis of L’Or Espresso’s communications and marketing
• Rose MacNicol, Massey University, for her case study adaptation of the ‘Kiss Goodbye to Breast Cancer’ campaign from the Philippines to Brazil
• Svetlana Antonova, Unitec, for her examination of the Ministry of Primary Industries’ crisis communications response to the Queensland fruit fly arriving in Auckland.
