The Office of Te Runanga o Ngai Tahu is a dynamic and contemporary organisation that exists to support the tribal institutions of Ngai Tahu and to give effect to the aspirations of Ngai Tahu Whanui guided by our vision of ‘mo tatou, a, mo ka uri a muri ake nei’ (for us and our children after us).

The Communications Team works to protect and uphold the brand and reputation of Te Runanga o Ngai Tahu and support the aspirations of Papatipu Runanga.

Description of Position

We are looking for a Communications Advisor on a full-time, fixed term basis to cover maternity leave beginning March 2013 for approximately 12 months. This person will work collaboratively across Te Runanga Group and its subsidiaries to design and proactively manage corporate communications with both internal and external stakeholders.

Reporting to the Senior Communications Advisor, this role covers a wide scope including: strategic communications and public affairs advice; stakeholder communications including crisis management as well as whanau and iwi communications. Applicants will possess the ability to identify positive media and proactive communication opportunities.

To succeed in this role you will have excellent written and oral skills, public relations and/or communications management knowledge and be confident working with senior executives and providing advice across an organisation. An undergraduate qualification in a relevant field such as journalism, communications or public relations is required.
