Roll up, roll up.... Deloitte Fast 50 open for business

The 2009 edition of the Deloitte Fast 50 (www.fast50.co.nz) opened this week and is an open invitation for growing businesses (or their PR advisors!) to throw their hats in the ring and find out if they have what it takes to be one of New Zealand’s 50 fastest growing companies.

What? The Fast 50 has been held every year since 2001 and as well as the national index, there is an award for the fastest growing primary sector business. In addition, in each of five regions, six awards will be made to the fastest growing manufacturer, technology business, business services business, retail/consumer products business, exporter, and mature business (10 years+).

When? Entries are open now and close 7 August 2009. The 2009 index will be announced on 28 October at functions in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin.

Why?

· Proof of success: Your presence in the Fast 50 is independent, demonstrable proof of growth and reiterates your business is going places. Great for morale of staff and feel good for potential recruits, customers, suppliers...

· Point of difference: Perhaps you are going up against a competitor to get a spot in a mall or trying to land a role in a collaborative partnership for a project – as a Fast 50 company you can set yourself apart.

· Asia-Pacific recognition: Several Kiwi Fast 50 technology companies have made it to the regional Technology Fast 500 index – a great way to show your wares to the region and a potential magnet for flushing out investors.

· Profile: Fast 50 businesses gain many opportunities to speak about their success to reporters and at seminars in the wake of their naming on the Index. NBR is the Fast 50 media partner.

Who? Entrants are required to be NZ registered, have been in business for at least 3 years, and have had operating revenue of at least $250,000 in the 2006/07 financial year.

Previous #1 ranked Fast 50 companies: TelstraSaturn, telecommunications; Marshal Software, internet security; Prolificx, electronics; Trade Me, online auctions; 42 Below, vodka; HRV, home ventilation; Energy Mad, eco-friendly light bulbs; and Watson & Son, manuka honey/healthcare.
