NZTA takes top spot at 2010 PRINZ Awards
The New Zealand Transport Agency took out the Supreme Award at tonight’s 36th Annual Public Relations Institute of New Zealand (PRINZ) Awards.
Janette Wise and the NZTA team won the award for their communications surrounding the Tauranga Harbour Link, a campaign spanning over three years and relying upon the public to champion its success. The sustained public relations activity helped to deliver one of New Zealand’s largest roading projects while maintaining the strong relationships NZTA has fostered with Bay of Plenty residents.
Among the awards, PRINZ also introduced a new award for 2010, the Workbase Literacy Award for a campaign’s recognition of the audience’s literacy, language or numeracy levels. The inaugural award went to Canterbury District Health Board and Convergence Communications for their work in lessening the effects of Swine Flu on Canterbury.
The awards featured strong entries across the board, particularly by teams from the NZTA and Professional Public Relations who won or were highly commended for nine awards between them.
The PRINZ Awards were an opportunity for the industry to recognise and reward the stellar contribution of consultants and in-house practitioners in all facets of their communications. Categories ranged from corporate and marketing communications to pro bono and not-for-profit PR campaigns.
PRINZ National President Graeme Purches was impressed with the calibre of entrant in 2010. “With so many strong candidates putting their hand up to be recognised it was hard to single out a clear cut winner in each category,” he says.
“This year has also seen the emergence of many new organisations keen to pit their communications against the best in New Zealand,” says Purches “along with the usual contenders who have all made an incredibly strong showing.”
The annual PRINZ Awards form part of this commitment by recognising and rewarding outstanding public relations practice and practitioners across New Zealand over 12 award categories.
Award-winning entries reflect sound public relations and communication objectives, demonstrate high standards of performance, production and presentation and represent the pinnacle of PR practice in New Zealand.
