PRINZ Annual Awards FAQs
Q: What are the key awards dates?
- Awards open 13 February
- Awards close at 4pm 22 March (no extensions will be made)
- Last day for earlybird entry is 15 March
Q: If I don’t have time to enter the awards can I be granted an extension?
There will be no extensions awarded in 2012. Members have almost eight weeks to enter, with a seven-week earlybird period for entry.
Q: What is the ‘interest in entering’ form?
Everyone submitting an entry needs to fill this in. The form lets PRINZ create a unique password that gives you access to the online entry platform. It also helps the office follow up on the categories you indicate you will enter, however it is in no way binding, you can change your mind regarding entry at any point.
Q: How do I enter the awards?
Step one – fill out the ‘interest in entering’ form
Step two – create your entry in the Entry document provided
Step three – copy and paste your entry into the online form section by section
Step four – submit your entry for judging (get the earlybird price if you enter on or before Thursday 15 March)
Q: Do I have to be a PRINZ member to enter the awards?
Yes
Q: I am not a PRINZ member, can I join now to enter the awards?
Yes
Q: Work within what time period is eligible for entry?
Work undertaken between January 2011 and 15 March 2012 is eligible for entry.
Q: Can the entry be work done outside New Zealand?
The awards are for original New Zealand work, not replication of any global strategy/creative developed outside New Zealand. If a global concept has been significantly adapted to the New Zealand market it may be eligible. Contact us on 09 358 9808.
Q: What’s the entry fee?
Earlybird Entry – From 13 February to 15 March 2012:
Single Entry: $201.25 (GST $26.25 inclusive)
Multiple Entry: $184 per entry (GST $24 inclusive)
Tertiary Student Entry: $86.25 (GST $11.25 inclusive)
Standard Entry - From 16 March to 22 March 2012:
Single Entry: $247.25 (GST $32.25 inclusive)
Multiple Entry: $230 per entry (GST $30 inclusive)
Tertiary Student Entry: $97.75 (GST 12.75 inclusive)
The multiple entry discount is for three or more entries from an individual or an organisation being entered at the same time. Please email Deepti at info@prinz.org.nz with the title and category of each entry in advance.
Q: What are the categories?
There are eleven categories in all. Click here to view. Your work may be eligible for entry in more than one category and can be submitted in multiple categories. Each category entered is counted as one entry and the entry fee is payable for each.
Q: Can students enter the awards?
Yes, students can enter their real-world projects in the Tertiary Student Project category. Students are not eligible to enter in any other category.
Q: I need advice on which category to enter.

Q: We have more than one campaign to enter, is there a group discount?
Group discount applies to a person or company submitting three or more entries.
Q: Can I enter the same work in more than one category?
Yes, your work may be eligible for entry in more than one category and can be submitted in multiple categories. Each category entered is counted as one entry and the entry fee is payable for each.
Q: What is the login to access the online entry form?
Your username is your first name and last name with a space in between For example: susie sample. You need to complete the ‘Interest in entering’ form to set your unique password.
Q: Can I save the online entry form to complete later?
Yes. If you choose to do this, a link to your draft entry will be sent to you at the entrant email specified on the online entry form.
Q: Can I provide images and video to supplement my entry?
The judges will request this only if they feel more information is required. PRINZ may also want visuals from finalists and winners.
Q: What is entry verification?
The entry will be sent to the manager/client you name on the entry form for their ‘sign off’ that it is true and accurate. It is good to forewarn them of this so they verify your work promptly.
Q: What is a synopsis?
The synopsis summarises your entire entry in 100 words, and should be written to convey the essence of the work.
Q: How can I be sure my entry is ‘confidential’?
The synopsis of a finalist or winning entry is public, however, the entry detail is confidential. PRINZ encourages members to not select ‘confidential’ for their entry unless the work is of a sensitive nature. Finalist and winning entries are used in case study and to form a body of local examples, however, confidential work will not be used for these.
Q: What are the eligibility criteria for the Young Practitioner’s award?
Entrants in this category should submit their CV in the appropriate box on the Young Practitioner form and a description of three projects they have worked on between January 2011 and 15 March 2012. In-house executives may submit an outline of an achievement(s) in a variety of projects or a sustained programme.
The total entry, CV plus project description(s), must not exceed 3000 words.
Entrants must be 25 years or younger as at 15 March 2012.
Q: What is the marking/judging criteria for entries?
The judges award marks for each section. These marks are available for you to view and indicate the importance placed on each section.
Q: Do you announce finalists?
Finalists will be announced in April, with winners announced at an awards event on 11 May.
Q: How much does it cost to attend the awards event?
Tickets for this are included in a full conference delegate price. Individual ticket prices will be determined in February 2012.
