PRINZ Divisions

The membership of PRINZ is divided into three divisions: Northern, Central and Southern. Each division is governed by a committee of elected volunteer members who organise a calendar of monthly events and help to build relationships and serve the local members.

Below you’ll find information about your divisional chair and the committees who represent you in your area.

Northern Division

Kate Woodruffe, Chair

Kate has had a diverse career, having spent 25 years working across a range of communications industries including advertising, publishing, media and PR, She has spent the last ten years working within public relations in both consultancy and in in-house roles including communications manager for Leighton Contractors and IBM NZ. Kate has built a reputation for excellence in communications strategy to support major infrastructure projects.

She has been involved with PRINZ since taking up student membership, has won awards for her work and completed APR in 2006.

Kate is currently consulting to Auckland Transport, where she provides communications and stakeholder engagement advice for a number of major projects across infrastructure and operations.

Central Division

Daniel Paul, Chair

Daniel has nearly 30 years experience in strategic communications and PR roles. He has worked in senior positions in both the public and private sectors. His experience includes projects with some of New Zealand’s higher profile companies, including Dominion Breweries, the Sealord Group, AXA, Contact Energy and Powerco. He also co-ordinated and led the government’s communications response to the 2001 hydro crisis and managed all the publicity and marketing for the launch of one of the first inter Island fast ferry services.

Before working with government he co-owned a public relations consultancy with offices in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. On leaving the public sector, he established another consultancy which he then merged with Four Winds, where he is a Director.

Daniel has a particular interest in strategic communications planning, media management and marketing communications. He is regularly asked to speak at industry events, to address new entrants to the industry and to mentor junior practitioners.

Southern Division

Lee Harris, Chair

Lee’s journalism background includes stints on the Levin Chronicle, Mountain Scene, Otago Daily Times and Taieri Herald, and freelancing.

Marketing Communications: Christchurch Arts Festival, Real Journeys, CORE Education and Canterbury Development Corporation.

She ran the Queenstown Film Office while working as Special Projects Manager for the Queenstown Lakes District Council, and worked in the Christchurch City communications team after spending 2006 travelling the world.

Lee was a contractor and then employee of Christchurch PR agency, Carter Price Rennie before starting as the Selwyn District Council Communications Adviser based in Rolleston. Lee is a member of the Christchurch Pops Choir, and in the past was in bands, women’s comedy group Hersterix, and in various theatre roles.

She has two kids, Louise (26) and Tamesi (14) and a company called Pirate Coffee NZ with her partner (head pirate/barista) Andrew Beaumont. She’s trying to get fit, really.
