Working with Consultancies
Choosing a communications or public relations partner is a business decision which needs to be taken according to normal business criteria. You should consider what specific services and skills you need to buy, and for how long, how much you can afford to spend, what particular level (or levels) of experience will be needed, what size consultancy best fits with your organisation or project and whether you need a local agency or one with national or international linkages.
If you want agencies to present full proposed programmes and solutions you will need to provide a detailed briefing and access to key personnel for interview or to answer questions. You will also need to be prepared to pay for the time it takes to prepare the presentation.
The brief you provide should include details of the specific problem or programme you want assistance with, what in-house expertise you have and what you feel you need to “buy-in”, any communications opportunities or problems you may already know about and what end result you are looking for.
